Learning a style of music is like learning a language, and learning scales is like learning the vocabulary of that language.
So it goes without saying that practising your scales is extremely important.
But I see many students making the mistake of learning scales from root to root and relying on muscle memory to make music with them.
So I wanted to share with you an extract from a recent lesson I did for the students of my Gypsy Jazz Guitar Makeover Coaching program:
How to practise scales on guitar in order to really internalise them, and improve your sense of timing, rhythm and your technique at the same time.
After this exercise you're going to be a more confident improviser and you will have a better technique.
Enjoy the lesson!
